Sophie & William's 'Super 8 Wedding' at Haileybury Chapel

Sophie and William chose to have a Classic and traditional Wedding, filled with music at the lovely Haileybury College Chapel in Hertford. Sophie's mum did a fantastic job with the flowers and we saw many familiar faces on the day, having shot Sophie's sister wedding Kirstin back in 2007. The Wedding reception took place in the amazing grounds of her family house nearby. Guests were treated to delicious food, great music and after the first dance to 'Ho Hey' by Lennon & Maisy Stella, the band 'Loaded' ripped it up for the rest of the evening! s8 films were on hand to capture their Wedding day on beautiful Vintage Super-8 film.

Congratulations go out to the lovely Sophie and William, what a beautiful Wedding!

Georgina & Nicholas's Country Wedding at Aynhoe Park

Georgina and Nicholas were married at the magical Aynhoe Park on Saturday 5th September, one of our favourite venue's in the Oxfordshire Countryside. The theme of an eccentric English Country Wedding worked perfectly at Aynhoe. Interior designer Georgina Harper, looked stunning in her romantic boho dress 'Bluebell' by Alice Temperley which which was also reflected in the wild flowers used. The Style of their Wedding Day at Anyhoe was laid back, family friendly with a sophisticated twist. The day was smoothly organised by Wedding Planner Liz Linkleter and after the first dance to “Riptide” by Vance Joy, the party was in full swing with music from the Family Funk Band. S8 films were on hand to film their amazing Wedding day on Vintage Super 8 film.

Congratulations go out to Georgina and Nicholas, a truly great Wedding in our favourite Wedding Venue!

What is Super 8 and why choose it for your Wedding film?

A question we are often asked at s8 films is "what actually is Super 8?"

Well, whenever you see "home movie" footage from the 1960s and 1970s, the chances are they would have been filmed on Super 8mm Cine film as this was the main filming medium used at the time. Super 8 film was launched by Kodak in 1965, making film-making available to all. The "8" refers to how wide the film is itself, 8mm! People used mechanical Super 8 movie cameras and celluloid film cartridges to film their Weddings and special events. The film stock is sometimes known as Cine film, Super 8mm or Super 8 but it is all the same thing - this can be confusing!

But why use Super-8 now in the digital age?

Well, Super 8 has the unmistakable “look and feel” of real movie film. It is the same film stock used by the film industry but just in a smaller gauge.  When using it you get a lovely grain, flickers of light, vintage colouration and more!

So we love using it for our Weddings because it always captures the atmosphere of the day with a lovely timeless, vintage look and feel.
